I just wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU to a few people for the Montessori Fundamentals Parent Education Night last night.
First and foremost, thank you to Lize Hart for bringing her beautiful self and helping all of us reach a new level of understanding about the amazing education our children are a part of.
Second, thank you to Paula Temrick for being so passionate about parent education and making it happen this year in our school. Organizing and hosting a night like this takes an enormous amount of effort and she rocked it.
Third, thanks to everyone who helped with every aspect of the night – including Victoria and Nancy for feeding us and the kids; Mr. Evans, Ms. Smith and Ms Tornroos for allowing us to use the school and completely dismantle the library space (next time we’ll take pictures to help us put it back to normal!); and to Galen, Karrie, Allison, and all other beautiful people who helped organize and set-up; and to our wonderful Maple Grove Montessori graduates (class of 2014) — Palas, Ryan, David and Shaolin who provided childcare. You were each a vital part of making the night successful.
Finally – thank you to everyone who CAME. I am so grateful to be a part of a community of parents who care deeply about their child’s education. And thanks for helping with clean up! 🙂
If you weren’t able to make it — there will be future opportunities. Watch this space.
Ms. Hart shared a quote last night:
My vision of the future is no longer of people taking
exams and proceeding from secondary school to
University but of passing from one stage of
independence to a higher, by means of their own
activity and effort of will. It is necessary, then, to give
the child the possibility of developing according to the
laws of his nature, so that he can become strong, and,
having become strong, can do even more than we
dared hope for him. ~ Maria Montessori
She shared an inspiring video to illustrate why this is still our vision today. I urge you to watch (or watch it again!) – here it is.
