Support Public Montessori

Welcome back from Spring Break!

Today I’d like to highlight an item from Tyee’s PAC blog (https://tyeepac.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/speak-up-for-public-montessori-access/):

Parents are invited to an afternoon workshop with Montessori trainer Amy Henderson, who will facilitate discussion on building community to help ensure sustainable and strong Montessori programs in the public sector.

Saturday, March 28
1 – 3 pm
Room B149 at Langara College

Please join us at the meeting if you can. The success, and expansion, of the Montessori program depends on strong leadership and involvement by both teacher and parent advocates.
RSVP to tazo@shaw.ca.

All Maple Grove parents are invited as well – if you care about the quality of Montessori education in our public schools, please come.

Cross Boundary – Action Required!

Montessori Parent Committee Announcement:
If you plan for your children to attend Magee in Grade 8, and your child is a cross-boundary student, please note that the VSB is moving to enforce a current policy that out-of-catchment students be selected by lottery, if there is insufficient space to accommodate all cross-boundary applicants.

A petition for parents to sign has been prepared to voice our concerns on this policy, requesting the board to reconsider this position with respect to Montessori Maple Grove students, as it is a city wide program and the school builds strong relationships between students here and at Magee. We are looking for parents to show your support by attending the VSB Committee II meeting on Wednesday, February 18 at 5:00pm. The location will be Room 120, 1580 West Broadway, Vancouver.

Cross Boundary Petition

Note: We have no intention of this blog becoming political at all. However, we are building a community and in that spirit we are disseminating information that impact our community. We hope that everyone understands.
